Heartland Ecological Group and Promega Corporation Enhance Nine Springs Wetland Complex in Fitchburg, Wi

Heartland supported the development of the new Nevin Springs Boardwalk within the Nine Springs Wetland Complex in Fitchburg, Wisconsin.

The elevated boardwalk provides the public with access to a remarkable wetland ecosystem while preserving the area's sensitive natural resources.

Connected to the Capital City Trail, the project creates new opportunities for recreation, environmental education, and appreciation of one of Dane County's unique landscapes.

Heartland assisted with several phases of the project, including ecological assessment, wetland delineation, regulatory planning, wetland permitting, and construction access support. Our team worked closely with Promega Corporation and the project partners to help develop an approach that avoided permanent wetland impacts while meeting state and federal permitting requirements.
